Conservation Programs
The Southern Resident Orcas are iconic to the Pacific Northwest. They are culturally significant to Coast Salish people, ecologically important, and are loved by so many. Unfortunately, there are less than 80 individuals left! The Southern Residents face three main threats:

Lack of salmon

Pollution

Boat vessel noise
What we do on land affects the water, and these orcas. It is so important that we all take action. We cannot let this species go extinct.
Water Quality Monitoring
To keep track of stream and water health we have been collecting water samples and testing at various sites. We then report back on that data to local scientists. This helps us determine what the next steps are in preserving these crucial waterways for salmon and the Southern Resident Orcas. We can learn about the health of the stream, what pollutants are entering the water, and we can then determine how to take action.
