Restoration
Restoring our natural spaces, salmon habitat and local waterways is vital to the protection of Pacific Salmon and the Southern Resident Orcas. By protecting these natural areas we are protecting the ecosystem and all of its inhabitants.
Swan Creek
It is crucial that we protect Swan Creek because in these waters are spawning grounds for chum salmon each year. By removing invasive species and planting native plants we can help filter out stormwater runoff and create more canopy coverage to benefit these salmon.
Puget Creek
Puget creek is a great example of greenspace in urban areas! Tucked away in downtown Tacoma, this creek was once habitatable to salmon, yet it no longer is. By restoring the conditions of the creek, we can help make this stream salmon-friendly once again!
Titlow Beach
Titlow Beach is truly such a gem, because of its trails, forested areas, lagoon, and beach to enjoy! What we do here directly affects the sound, and it is vital to protect this park. One day maybe salmon will be able to return to the lagoon, but for now, there are still so many steps to take in restoring this space!
